Today we want to share with you yet another version of our favorite breakfast: porridge! We started with a warming winter version, with oat and walnuts. We then tasted it in its springtime version, with buckwheat and dried apricots, and here we go with an autumn twist. This recipe is especially dedicated to give us new energy and, yes, make us look better. We choose this colorful combinations of ingredients for a proper morning beauty routine. Now more then ever we have forgotten about that summer glowing, we need to eat well and take special care of ourself. Don’t worry if you feel a bit blue in these times: it’s normal. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine this is the season associated to Sadness, but we should try to avoid being so melancholic. Yes, but how?
Couldn’t be easier: take some golden millet flakes, precious for hair health, gently mix them with some milk, better if vegetable to avoid adding too much Dampness. Add some red goji berries to strengthen the immune system and tonify blood, and finally some coconut flakes will bring along precious minerals, such copper and potassium. In the meanwhile, toast the almonds for a support of proteins and essential fat acids, and the kitchen will be filled with a delicious scent that helps to start the day in a good mood. If you like to make things sweeter, add some honey. Then just sit back, relax and enjoy your breakfast that, in the meanwhile, will take care of you.
Serves 2 –Easy- Prep time: 8-10’
You will need:
- 100 g millet flakes
- 2 glasses vegetable milk
- 2 tsp coconut flakes
- some almonds
- 1 tsp goji berries
- brown sugar or honey
- Chop the almonds and roast them on a pan for couple of minutes;
- pour the milk, the millet flakes, the coconut, the goji berries in a sauce pan, and cook while continuously stirring for 3-4 minutes;
- if you wish, add some more milk to make it more smooth;
- pour in a cup, add the toasted almond and, if you wish, some sugar or honey;
- eat immediately.
